2018: The Plan

2018: The Plan

2018.jpg

I always start the year with a plan, although things so rarely end up looking like I imagine they will! So, this is my plan for 2018.

Blog

Monday - my own experiences and musings on the writing life.

Tuesday - author spotlight; guest posts and interviews from a variety of authors.

Wednesday - alternate WWW Wednesday and Reviews

Friday - I'm going to keep this loose at the moment. There will be some flash fiction, some sneak peeks at my Works in Progress, competitions and conversations.

Ashael Falling: The Vessel of KalaDene Book 2

I'm working away on this and it's coming into focus. My intention is to have the first draft complete and submitted to Unbound by March but that might be a little ambitious. My hope is to have the book funding during the spring and hopefully ready for release early in 2019.

Borrowed

Borrowed is still funding with Unbound. Expect to see more news about it in the coming weeks. You can find out more about the project and pledge your support here: www.unbound.com/books/borrowed

All royalties from this book will go to support the World Literacy Foundation. With just £10 you can bring a book to life and help to change people's lives for years to come.

Petra McDonald and the Queen of the Fae

This novella tells the story of a pagan artist who receives visions from the gods when she paints. When a child is kidnapped by the queen of the Fae, Petra is tasked with traveling to Faery and recovering her.

This is currently under submission.

The Longest Night

Set in the arctic of another world, this is the story of what happens when the sun fails to rise after midwinter and the young man who has to find a way to return the light. This is a work in progress and I'm hoping to get it finished alongside working on KalaDene 2.

Unnamed Novella

This is really just a collection of notes at the moment, involving a priestess and a plague. I'm hoping to write and place this in 2018.

The Vessel of KalaDene Book 3

I intend to write book three straight after book two so I hope to be well into the first draft of book three before the end of the year.

Collaboration

I am currently working on a collaborative project with artist Joe Slucher which we intend to serialise. Each month, we'll release a chapter and the accompanying artwork. More details coming soon.

On top of these projects, there are several anthologies coming up this year that I'm interested in submitting to so expect to see reports of short fiction throughout the year.

I'm continuing to edit BFS Horizons - check out the submission guidelines here and send us your work!

As for appearances, I'm organising a BFS event in Glasgow which I'll be reading at and I'm planning to attend Fantasycon again this year. I'll update with you with more events as they come up.

All in all, it's shaping up to be a busy year. I hope you'll join me for the ride!
